E-Commerce – How Zeros And Ones Can Make Life Easier

eCommerce

To explain what e-commerce is I need to go back in time.

Last time I went to school trying to make a dream reality – to be a physical therapist, you know, the one you go when your chiropractor can’t help anymore with your back pain; I realize once again something. Sometimes you must learn really awful boring terms and definitions in order to understand the more exciting environment those terms appear in.

I’m sorry, but explaining a so unglamorous topic as what e-commerce is, remember me about some lessons at my former medicine school that had a stronger analgesic effect than many of their actual pharmaceutics counterparts. However, you know that you must know and understand those basic concepts in order to understand what will come later.

Let’s start with an example.

Imagine you are researching the web to find the amazing and lovely gift you want to give your romantic partner on Saint Valentine’s Day. Now you found it! There is it, a wonderful spa-weekend on the most gorgeous place in Earth. You have decided to buy the spa-package at once.

What do you do? Yes, you check the price again and take your Visa card to pay. Now, how do you actually pay? No coins or a one hundred note, not at all … you use a number … your card number. That’s it, you only use zeros and ones to buy something. Every time I do it, I’m surprised, it works. Isn’t it a wonder?

Well, the term behind this marvel is the somewhat “boring” one I talked in the beginning.

Ladies and gentleman let me introduce you Mr. e-Commerce. The “electronic commerce” – that’s the actual name – is simply the buying and selling of things over the Internet. “Things” can consist of goods, services, or both. I could buy a wonderful box of body care articles together with the service offering by the place.

Ecommerce includes a wide range of businesses, from stores engaged in selling particular products, to auctions, to (legal, paid-for) downloading of music and movies. Therefore, the electronic commerce has turned out to be one of the major vital outcomes of the spread of the Internet.

Pause for a while and think about it … You can purchase a book and have it delivered to your doorstep the following day without even going to a bookstore simply by going online, in an almost magical way. Barriers of time and distance mean very little anymore when it comes to purchasing and selling things.

Over the last few years, the electronic commerce has developed extremely fast, and we should expect this to go on for some time or even speed up. In addition, the line between “regular” and ‘e’ commerce is anticipated to blur more and more. Nearly every type of business will be completed at least partly over Internet.

Remarkable opportunities are generated because of the tremendous growth of e-business.

Because of the lure of a chance of getting rich, people are inspired to invent innovative and better ways of doing all this. Take eBay or Amazon as examples. How many people have realized the power of doing business globally using Internet. For all that you need the technology and that is spelled electronic commerce.

The new way to business-to-business commerce. Over the internet, businesses also trade stuff to other businesses, rather than to customers. We often refer this as “B2B”. Every year a lot of companies, small as big, spend an enormous of resources to complete transactions and documentation forms while doing business with each other. Now many of those things are completed online, this saves resources and time.

Imagine millions of manufacturers that purchase parts, retail stores that purchase from wholesalers and programmers who are hired and more of this getting done on the Internet. Then you can have an idea of the impact of eCommerce on your life. Without it, you’ll probably wouldn’t be able to buy your daily bread.

It’s worth citing that when I explain e-commerce as purchasing and selling stuff over the internet, it doesn’t relatively tell the entire story.

e-Commerce also consists of transporting data back and forth in order for financing and disbursement of funds to happen, so it just isn’t selling in the simplest form. After all, there is no point of selling merchandise if you don’t get paid for it? In addition, that tiny petite lower case “e” at the beginning of the word e-commerce means something …

Lower case “e” is the scientific symbol for electron. So again, what is e-commerce? It’s trades completed electronically. Purchasing and selling things over the Internet is its simplest explanation. Before long, it may be all commerce but that’s really what e-commerce is all about.

… Ok, now you can continue shopping. Check that this is a secure and certified site. Enter your Visa card number confirm your purchase and then wait until that romantic dinner to show your love by giving away a romantic spa-weekend.
